Donald R. Parmenter, 77, of Holmen, died on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at his home after a long battle with Lewy Body disease. He was born on March 7, 1940 in La Crosse to Glen and Kathryn (Wakefield) Parmenter. Don graduated from La Crosse Central High School. He married Karen Poellinger in 1962. He had worked at UPS for 31 years and was fortunate to retire early to spend time golfing, gambling in Vegas, and spend time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Karen, a daughter Cheri (Pete) Thompson, a son Terry (Robin) Parmenter, five grandchildren, Nicole Thompson, Jessie (fiance’ Wayne) Thompson, Selena Thompson, Shelby Parmenter and Taren Parmenter, a great-grandson Leyton Thompson, a brother Roger (Millie) Parmenter and a sister Sue Rielly. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law Jim Rielly.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services of La Crosse. Pastor Ted Dewald will officiate. Private family committal services will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:30 AM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater La CrosseService Schedule
