Donald F Lorenz

Donald F. Lorenz, 84 of Hokah, Minn., passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at La Crescent Health Services. He was born on June 25, 1933 in rural Hokah Township to Joseph and Malinda (Pilger) Lorenz. He married Helen L. Sauer at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Hokah on June 26, 1954. She preceded him in death on May 27, 2008.

Don had proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War aboard a minesweeper. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time on the family farm.

He is survived by his four sons; Jeffrey Lorenz, Timothy (Heidi) Lorenz, Daniel (Karen) Lorenz all of Hokah, Alan (Karen) Lorenz of Caledonia, Minn., eight grandchildren, Cory, Cole, Matthew, Christine, Nicole, Jessica, Ashley and Brittany; two great grandchildren, Peyton and Alyvia; two sisters Carol (Jim) McCabe and Marg (Ron) Cordes. In addition to his wife Helen and his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter Kari Marie Lorenz and one sister Lorene (Omer) Schleich.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Hokah. Rev. Pratap Reddy Salibindla will officiate. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call on the family Saturday morning at the church from 10am until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be donated toward the stained-glass fund at St. Peter’s.
