Dolores “Joan” Sinniger, 84 of La Crosse passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Brookdale Assisted Living in La Crosse. She was born February 1, 1936 in Richland County, Wis. to John “Henry” and Erma (Kitson) Joyce and graduated from Richland Center High School. She then attended St. Francis School of Nursing in La Crosse where she received her Registered Nurses degree.
On November 9, 1957 she married Thomas Sinniger at Saint Mary’s Church in Richland Center and together they raised six children. Joan enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing bridge every week for over sixty years with her nursing school classmates. She also loved gardening, especially her peonies and roses and quilting for her family. Joan was known for never losing at the casino and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Women’s Auxiliary.
Joan is survived by her six children; Laura (Mike) Fecht, David (Sherri) Sinniger, Don (Michele Abel) Sinniger, Dan (Mary Beth) Sinniger, Sarah Sinniger and Doug Sinniger; her grandchildren include Tom (Sarah) Fecht, Andy (Colleen) Fecht, Martha (Cory) Krause, Stephanie (Matt) Furchner, Tim (Emily) Sinniger, Joe Sinniger, Marina Sinniger, Rachel Sinniger, Sam Sinniger and Ryan Sinniger; her great-grandchildren include Makena, Connor, Hadley, Briella Fecht, Axel Diehl, Hannah Furchner and Zachary Furchner; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Sinniger and Irene Joyce, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom on August 10, 2017; her parents; 10 brothers and sisters, James, Eleanor, Louise, Thomas, Joseph, Emmett, Patrick, Lorraine, Marie and Kathryn, along with a great-grandson, Austin Fecht.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 23 rd at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish, 2006 Weston Street, La Crosse. Entombment will follow in the Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass. Those attending will be asked to where a mask and be mindful of social distancing. The funeral Mass will be live streamed on the church’s YouTube channel which can be accessed at www.mmoclacrosse.org. Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Nursing Alumni Association c/o Viterbo University or the Alzheimer’s Association.
