Diane Lynn Bateman

Diane Lynn Bateman, 70 of La Crescent, MN peacefully passed on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at the Valley View Healthcare and Rehab Center in Houston, MN. She was born on December 21, 1949 in La Crosse, WI to Roy and Arlene (Wolter) Schroeder, grew up in Nodine, MN and graduated from Winona Senior High School. On May 9, 1970 she married James Bateman and together they were blessed with over 50 years of marriage and memories.

While Diane worked at several places including Winona State University, People’s Natural Gas and Ace Hardware RSC, she truly enjoyed her years spent providing home daycare. She was a gifted cook and baker, was an active member of the choir and also the women’s church groups at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in La Crescent, enjoyed travels to the Caribbean, Israel, and many areas of the U.S., but most significantly was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who treasured spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband, Jim, she is survived by two children; Mark (Christy) Bateman and Jodi (James) Gibbons; four grandchildren, Gregory and Emma Gibbons, and Christian and Ayren Bateman; sister, Shari Henry and brother-in-law, David (Gina) Bateman as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by both her parents, her brother, Terry Schroeder and brother-in-law, William Henry.

Diane’s family would like to thank the staff at Gundersen Health System as well as at Valley View Healthcare and Rehab for their care and support.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 31 ^st at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in La Crescent. Burial will immediately follow at Hiler Cemetery, Nodine, MN. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 12:00 Noon until the time of services. Those attending are requested to please wear face coverings and follow all social distancing guidelines. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the following: First Evangelical Lutheran Church in La Crescent, Luther High School in Onalaska or the Hiler Cemetery Association
