Dennis G. Wolf

Dennis G. Wolf, 79 of Holmen, WI passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at his home. He was born on July 19, 1940 in Milwaukee, WI to George and Bodil (Volzgen) Wolf. He married DonnaMae Thornton on August 26, 1961 in Milwaukee. In 1962 he graduated from UW-La Crosse. Dennis was a science teacher for 51 years, primarily in Cudahy, WI. He worked hard and played hard. He enjoyed competitive sports especially golf, ping-pong, softball racquetball and cards. Dennis spent time with friends attending local events including UW-L and Viterbo sports, La Crosse Speedway and Loggers baseball. Dennis loved the outdoors, especially sunny days of yard work, cutting wood and building large fires. He served many years with Gundersen Volunteer Services. Dennis loved life, making friends and sharing the Gospel wherever he went. He was an active leader at both Oak Creek and River of Life Assembly of God. He was twice named councilman of the year for the Assemblies of God-Light for the Lost.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years DonnaMae Wolf, his children Kevin (Eileen) Wolf, Connie (Roger) Thompson and Tamra (Jeff) Thomson; grandchildren Cameron Wolf, Diana Wolf, Simon Wolf, Kyle (Kathleen) Thompson, Kaylyn Thompson, Rachael (Ben) Bilyk, Shayla (Shane) Thomson, Clare Thomson and Tiffany Thomson; great grandchildren Taylor, Joshua, Aurora, Griffin, Ruby and Nola; a sister Carole (Ron) Rockwood along with his fur baby ‘Muffin’. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Holmen First Responders and to Gundersen Hospice team, who helped make it possible for Dennis to stay in his home.

A public visitation will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2020 from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at the Schumacher – Kish Funeral & Cremation Services, 200 West Ave. S., La Crosse. Social distancing guidelines will be observed. A Private Family service will be at 1:00 PM. Pastor Jacob Wallace will officiate. A public visitation will also be held at 1:30 PM followed by a brief service and committal at 2:30 PM on Friday, July 10 at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield, WI.
