Dean M. Oslund

January 11, 2003 — January 25, 2025

Altoona, WI

Dean Mitchael Oslund, 22, of Altoona, and formerly of Onalaska, left this world far too soon on Saturday, January 25, 2025. Born on January 11, 2003, in La Crosse, Wisconsin, Dean was the beloved son of Mitchael and Kathryn (Stuber) Oslund.

Dean graduated from Onalaska High School in 2021. Following graduation, he began his professional journey at Menard’s, where his magnetic personality and drive for success quickly made him a top performer. Most recently, Dean thrived as a Territory Sales Leader for OSL, showcasing the same determination and charisma that everyone knew and loved.

A true gearhead at heart, Dean had a deep passion for anything with wheels or an engine. From snowmobiles and dirt bikes to mountain bikes and RC cars, Dean embraced the thrill of speed and adventure. His love for motorsports was rivaled only by the joy he found longboarding and spending hours gaming with his brother, Jack. These moments reflected Dean’s ability to find happiness in both the fast-paced and the simple joys of life.

Dean’s resourcefulness was nothing short of extraordinary. He had a gift for taking what was broken and bringing it back to life, whether restoring an old item or fixing a complex machine. His hands-on creativity and knack for problem-solving were a testament to his relentless curiosity and innovative spirit. Outside his love for motors, Dean found joy fishing at Half Moon Lake, cooking, and exploring life’s quieter moments with his fiancé, Brooke.

With his magnetic presence and a heart as big as his smile, Dean made everyone feel seen and valued. He had an unmatched charm and a genuine, caring nature that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. Whether he was cracking a joke, lending a hand, or just being himself, Dean left an imprint on the hearts of all who crossed his path.

Dean is survived by his parents, Mitchael “Mitch” and Kathryn “Kathy” Oslund; his brother Jack Oslund (Vanessa Luther); fiancé, Brooke Smith; maternal grandmother, Patricia Stuber; maternal aunts and uncles, Laura (Bill Glew) Stuber, Cynthia (Mike) Wyckoff, Diane (Paul) Cockrell, and Jean (John) Bannister; paternal aunts and uncles, Matt (Stephanie) Oslund, Mark (Suzy) Oslund, Marlene Oslund, and Marleta (Guy) Mertz; maternal cousins, James (Rhea) Burrows, Jean (fiancé Cody Zitzner) Burrows, Kyle (Michele Burrows), Kristin Wyckoff, Katy Wyckoff, Justin (Rachel) Bannister, Erika Bannister; and paternal cousins, Nick (Ashley) Mertz and Meghan (Pierce) Tokerud.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Doug and Rita Oslund; aunt, Nadine Oslund; and his special furry friends, Gabby and Annie.

Visitation will take place on Friday, January 31, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, 200 West Avenue S., La Crosse.
