David P. Platz

David P. Platz, 83 of Onalaska, passed away at his home on Sunday, March 7, 2021. He was born in La Crosse on December 6, 1937 to Ronald and Laura (Miller) Platz. He graduated from Aquinas High School and attended St. Mary’s University in Winona and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

On June 6, 1959 he married Jacqueline Krzyzanowski at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in La Crosse. Dave worked at Stark Electronics in La Crosse for many years. He then owned and operated Marineland in Onalaska with his daughter and son-in-law until his retirement in 2000. He enjoyed gardening, cooking attending pow-wows and above all else, spending time with his family telling stories.

In addition to his wife, Jacqueline, he is survived by a daughter, Lisa (Algie) Wolters of Trempealeau, WI; a son, Nicholas Platz of Oakland, CA; a son-in-law, Jeff Zilliox of Onalaska; four grandchildren, Morgen (Jacob) Wolters-Borzick of Neshkoro, WI, Abend Wolters of Sun Prairie, WI, Donner Wolters of Trempealeau and Emily Zilliox of Onalaska; a great-granddaughter, Aerith Borzick of Neshkoro, WI; a brother-in-law, Leroy Wannemuehler of Holmen along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Gretchen Platz-Zilliox; an infant great-grandchild; a brother, Timothy Platz and a sister, Patricia Wannemuehler.
