David Keith Harder

David Keith Harder, 84, of La Crosse, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 2, 1932 in La Crosse to Charles and Elizabeth (Hyde) Harder. Dave graduated from Central High School in 1950 and continued to enjoy attending his Central Class Breakfast Club.

Dave enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served for four years, obtaining the rank of Staff Sargent. On September 16, 1961, he married the love of his life, Ione Dale, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in La Crosse. They celebrated 55 years of marriage.

Dave worked for La Crosse Footwear for 43 years where he became Product Development Manager until his retirement. Dave was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where he was a past President of the Church Council and Vice-President of the congregation. He also taught Sunday School, was a youth director, coached the church softball team, and was a member of the bowling team. He also enjoyed his years as a Cub Scout leader and was an avid Packer, Brewers and Badger fan.

He is survived by his loving wife Ione, his daughter Heidi Lynne Harder of La Crosse, his son Dale (Brenda) Harder of Fairview, TN, one beloved granddaughter, Gabrielle Harder of Fairview, TN, two step-granddaughters, Stefani and Kristi and two step great-grandsons. He is also survived by a sister-in-law Gloria Harder, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Elizabeth Harder, his step-mother Blanche Harder, his in-laws, Henry and Lydia Dale, his beloved son Brian David Harder, his brother Charles “Chuck” Harder, and a brother-in-law Arlyn Dale.
