David E. Dwyer

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of David E. Dwyer, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother. He was 74 years old. Dave was born to Eugene and Janet (Satek) Dwyer in La Crosse on January 13, 1951. He was a 1969 graduate of Central High School. In 1970, Dave married his high school sweetheart, Suellan Christianson. He worked for La Crosse Cooler Co., Trane Co., and he also owned and operated Dwyer Longbows with his son, Corey, for many years.

Dave was an avid outdoorsman, developing his passion for hunting at a young age. You could find Dave turkey hunting in the spring, fishing in the summer, and big game hunting in the fall. He was a purest in every form of the sport, mainly practicing traditional archery style using the longbows that he created. He was a rockstar bow hunter and storyteller and was well known throughout the archery community. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Devon, and his great grandsons.

We would like to acknowledge Dave’s special friendships with George and Bob.

We also would like to give a special thank you to the staffs at Gundersen Medical Center, Bluffview Memory Care, and the St. Croix Hospice team for the loving care they provided.

Dave is survived by his wife, Suellan; son, Corey (Sue); grandson, Devon (Alicia) Dwyer; step-grandson, Austin (Noah) Frye; great grandsons, Maverick, Owen, and Zeke; sister, Julie Lanning; nephew, Jeffrey Checots; niece, Melissa (Mark) Tattoli; and many great nieces and nephews.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Susan Dwyer; and brother-in-law, Tom Lanning.

A celebration of Dave’s life will be held from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 907 Sand Lake Rd., Onalaska, WI 54650, with a memorial service to be held at 2:30 pm.
