Dr. David Corser, 94, of La Crosse, passed away on Wednesday October 23rd at The Willows at Okemos in Okemos, Michigan.
He was born August 4,1930 in Minneapolis, MN, to John Corser and Mary Griswold. He married Betty Rose Nerlich on June 10, 1954, in St. Louis, MO. After graduating from medical school at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri in 1954, David and Betty lived in Kansas for two years while David served in the Army as a Captain, before later building their lives in La Crosse.
In 1959, David established his pediatric practice at the Skemp Clinic in La Crosse. He was a dedicated doctor who made frequent home visits to sick children during the early days of his practice. His extensive medical knowledge and kind bedside manner were always reassuring to new parents. Because he practiced medicine in La Crosse for over five decades, David often treated many generations of children in the same family.
After retirement, David volunteered with numerous local charities including the Optimist Club of La Crosse, St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral, and Hixon Forest Nature Center. David was also a dedicated volunteer at St. Francis Hospital where he coordinated wheelchairs and transported patients. David was an avid golfer and enjoyed reading newspapers, doing crossword puzzles, birdwatching, and telling jokes.
David is preceded in death by his wife Betty and grandson Lucas Ebert. He is survived by six children, William Corser (Kathy Skipper) of East Lansing, MI, Diana (Murray) Meeker of Alexandria, VA, Joan (Mark) Lindahl of Denmark, WI, Carolyn (Jim) Ebert of Sparta, WI, Bonnie Wylie of Burke, VA, and Jennifer Corser (Eric Moorefield) of Durham, NC; 14 grandchildren, Ali, Maggie, Nicholas, Danielle, Julia, James, Robert, Emily, Jenny, Lance, Johnathan, Angelina, Christian and Camille; and eight great grandchildren, Luna, Athena, Ella, Grace, Christopher, Gabriella, Cosette, and Gabriela; as well as many dear friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral in La Crosse. Interment will follow in the St. Francis of Assisi Mausoleum at the Catholic Cemetery in La Crosse. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Tuesday, October 29, at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services of La Crosse with a prayer service beginning at 5:30 pm. Memorials in David’s memory may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Foundation at: https://www.alzfdn.org.
The Corser family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Hillview Health Care Center for their compassionate care of David for several years, and more recently the staff at The Willows at Okemos.
We are having connection issues regarding the livestream at church. The service will still be recorded and posted here after the service has finished, thank you.
