David Ward Booth

October 4, 1964 — June 21, 2024

David Ward Booth, 59, of La Crescent, Minn., began his eternal life Friday, June 21, 2024 at Mayo Clinic Health System La Crosse. He was born on October 4, 1964, in Madison, WI to Ward and Betty (Hill) Booth. Dave grew up in Verona, Wis., and graduated from Verona High School in 1983.

Dave attended the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and graduated with a B.S. in Radio/Television Broadcast Management in 1987. To say that the media was in his blood is an understatement. His career led him to multiple television stations during his 37-year career, including WQOW 18, KOLN/KGIN, and WHBF. In 1992, he took a job as the Local Sales Manager at WXOW 19. At that time, it was his dream to be the youngest Sales Manager, and he achieved that dream. At his time of death, Dave was the General Manager, and it was a job he was proud to have. He was a past President of the La Crosse Area Chamber of Commerce and La Crosse Symphony Orchestra.

On September 9, 1995, he married his life’s love, Teri Umsted in La Crosse, Wis. They were blessed with two children, Emma and Ryan. He is survived by his wife, Teri; daughter, Emma; and son, Ryan, all of La Crescent, Minn.; a sister, Shari (John) Filsinger of Verona, Wis.; many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces, and a brother-in-law Jim Umsted of Marion, NC. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Ward and Betty Booth; in-laws, Forrest and Karen Umsted; and brother-in-law, Scott Umsted.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 28, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, La Crescent. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 27, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, and one hour prior to the funeral. A Celebration of Life luncheon will be held at the La Crescent Event Center following the services.

The family would like to thank the La Crescent Police and Fire Departments, the incredible nursing staff of Mayo Clinic 7th Floor Medical and ICU for their care of not only Dave but for our family. Additional thanks go to Pastor Lenny, Dr. Joe Behn, Dr. Daisy Batista, Dr. Hussam Jenad and Dr. Kelsey Rolefson for their compassion.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Great Rivers United Way, 1855 E. Main Street, Onalaska, WI  54650.

This is not goodbye, it’s I’ll see you later.  Dave Booth, 6/18/24.
