David Michael Barney

David Michael Barney, 54, of Denver, Colo., and formerly of La Crosse, died onThursday, March 2, 2017, at Centers at Lincoln, Parker, Colo., after a battle with cancer. He was born on May 16, 1962 in La Crosse to Larry and Vivian (Scherz) Barney.

David graduated from Central High School and was a laborer working outdoors whenever he could. He was in a car accident in 2000 which put him on disability.  David loved the outdoors, especially fishing and was a huge Packers fan as well.

He is survived by his brother, Cory (Dawn) Barney of Sparta, Wis.; his sister, Melanie (Van) Sy of Rochester, Minn., and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and nephew, Christian Sy.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 29th Onalaska Church of Christ.  Rev. Gordon Clary will officiate.  Friends may call at the church from noon until the ceremony begins. Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services Onalaska chapel is assisting the family.
