Brothers Daniel Brian Ruud and Jason Harold Ruud passed away unexpectedly on January 11 th , 2021 at their homes in Platteville, WI. Their loss leaves their families and friends shocked and deeply saddened.
Daniel was born on September 3 rd , 1980 in La Crosse, WI. He attended Onalaska High School and moved on to graduate from UW-La Crosse with a degree in Computer Science. From there, Dan moved to Platteville, WI and began his career as a Senior Software engineer. Outside of work, Dan could be found playing basketball, doing home renovations and had a hobby for fantasy gaming. His red Camaro was his pride and joy.
Jason was born on November 6 th , 1983 in La Crosse, WI. He also attended Onalaska High school and from there he went on to graduate from Western Technical College with a degree in Accounting. Jason’s passion for cooking took him to work at several restaurants throughout La Crosse, Madison and then to Platteville. Jason not only enjoyed cooking for a career but also as a hobby. He also had a passion for Wisconsin sports, listening to music and playing his guitar.
Jason knew it all and would pull anyone deep into conversation if you let him. He was always full of interesting stories and information. He made friends everywhere he went with his unforgettable personality. Dan was dedicated to his career as a software engineer at Avista. He truly enjoyed his work and was proud of his success. He also thrived on spending time with family. Many weekends were spent entertaining at his home. Dan was a wonderful uncle to his nieces and nephew and would do anything to put a smile on their little faces. You would be hard pressed to find two brothers who had more fun. On any given day, Dan and Jason were always up for an adventure of some sort. Every day of their lives, they made a reason to celebrate.
Dan and Jason will be greatly missed by their mother and father: Larry and Debra Ruud, sisters: Heather (Jeff) Gerdes, Cindy (Justin) Freybler and Katie Ruud, grandmother: Jean Manske, nieces: Madeline, Evalyn and Bailey, and nephew: Easton. They are preceded in death by grandparents: Albert and Fern Ruud, and Harold Manske, aunt: Susan Ruud and uncle: Daniel Manske.
A public visitation will be held from 3 – 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9 th at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home in Onalaska. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are preferred and may be directed to Schumacher-Kish at P.O. Box 434, Onalaska WI 54650.
