Daniel Carl Frosch

Daniel Carl Frosch, 74, formerly of La Crescent, MN. died Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD.

Daniel was born on February 5, 1944 to Erna & Perry Frosch in La Crosse, WI. and grew up on the family farm in Houston, MN. He attended school in Houston until his sophomore year and then was needed to help with the family farm. He later completed and received his GED from American School in April of 1966.

On June 27, 1963 Daniel married Linda Bratberg at Rushford Lutheran Church in Rushford, MN. They lived at the family farm until moving to La Crescent in 1966. Before moving to La Crescent, Dan started working for TRANE company in La Crosse, WI. Dan retired in 2009 after 43 years with TRANE. Shortly after moving to La Crescent, Dan joined the La Crescent Volunteer Fire Department in 1969 serving as Captain and Assistant Fire Chief until his retirement in January 2004. In the mid-1970's, he received his EMT certification at the technical school in La Crosse and was instrumental in beginning the La Crescent First Responders along with working at Tri-State Ambulance Service until after they were acquired by Gundersen Lutheran in 1995. Dan was honored in 1989 as the "Man of the Year" during the La Crescent Apple Festival. In the mid-1990's, he decided to get involved with city government and was elected to the La Crescent City Council. Dan was also a past member of La Crescent Apple Fest Board, Snowmobile Club, Sportsman Club and Auxiliary Police.

Dan was formerly a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in La Crescent where he and his wife Linda raise their three children. In 2001, Dan became an active member at Immanuel Lutheran Church in La Crosse, WI.  He attended regular services, church council meetings, ushered and volunteered for the "Meals On Wheels" delivery program. He enjoyed attending his children's sporting events to cheer them on for Softball, Basketball and Volleyball. Most summer weekends were spent attending horse shows which was one of the family's favorite hobby's.

Dan was an avid hunter and all around outdoorsman. He loved attending auctions and collecting virtually anything he felt was unique. There was always a "good deal" to be had! He was a dedicated and loyal fan to the Minnesota Twins and Vikings in addition to Nascar Racing.

This past year Dan relocated to Sioux Falls, SD and enjoyed being back on the farm enjoying all of his John Deere toys. He also built a brand new house which was a dream of his and Linda's for many years.

He is survived by his three children Melanie (Darla Wienk) Frosch of Sioux Falls, SD, Michelle (Troy) Lesky of La Crosse, Matt (Bill) Jackson-Frosch of Tomah, WI. Two grandchildren Michael Lesky (Samantha) and Danielle Lesky. Also special friend & companion Joan Gardner of La Crosse. He is preceded in death by his wife, two sisters-in-law, and a brother-in-law.

A special thank you to the Compassionate Care & Dougherty Hospice House staff of Sioux Falls for their outstanding support and loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Compassionate Care Hospice Foundation, Dakota Dachshund Rescue, or Special Olympics South Dakota.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday, July 20, 2018 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, La Crescent. Pastor Michael Woods will officiate. Burial will follow in the Prince of Peace Cemetery, rural La Crescent. Friends may call on the family Friday morning from 9:30 am until the time of services.
