Dane R. Herold

Dane R. Herold, 72, of La Crosse, Wi, Passed away at his home with his family by his side on Wednesday, November 14, 2023 from COPD.

Dane served in the United States Navy from December 1969 until August 30, 1973 aboard the USS Sellers as a Hull Technician. Dane had a variety of jobs during his life. His favorite was working as a carpenter at the La Crosse Center. He met the love of his life, Dawn Stinson, while in High School. They were married in Immanuel Lutheran Church, La Crosse. Dane was a family man of great faith. His family and his church were most important in his life. His favorite book in the bible was Ecclesiastics. He was also very proud of his grandchildren.

Dane is survived by his wife Dawn, son Robert (Lisa) Herold, grandchildren Brooklynn Herold, Wyatt Herold, brother in law Doug (Becky) Stinson of Westby, WI, sisters in law Dixie Goede of La Crescent, MN, Darlene Stinson of LaFarge, WI, Debbi (Gary) Horstman of Holmen, WI, Denise Stinson of West Salem, WI, Doreen (Dave) Kuschel of La Crosse, along with many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Bob and Grace Herold, brother Robin Herold, Paternal grandparents George and Helen Herold and maternal grandparents Henry and Alberta Thompson.

The family deeply appreciates the incredibly kind compassionate care provided by the Gundersen Health System Hospice care team. A special thank you to Jason RN who had a wonderful connection with Dane. What Jason said, Dane did. He was the only person who could tell Dane what to do.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran School.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, La Crosse. Pastor David Leistekow will officiate. Private family burial will take place in Chipmunk Coulee Cemetery, rural La Crosse Co. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday morning from 9am until the time of services.
