Corinne Ann Sandvick

May 10, 1925 — August 16, 2017

Corinne Sandvick, 92, of La Crosse, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Hillview Healthcare Center, La Crosse, where she had been a resident since 2014.  She was born in La Crosse to Bernard and Anna (Druschke) Fiebig on May 10, 1925. She attended Holy Trinity School and Aquinas High School.  On May 11, 1950, Corinne married Marion Sandvick.  For 15 years, the couple enjoyed a fruitful and happy marriage, resulting in the gift of five children.

Widowed at age 40, Corinne became a single mom, tasked with the heavy responsibility of rearing her children.  She worked primarily in the foodservice industry to support her family, spending most of her working years in the Dietary Department of Gundersen Health System, from where she retired in 1987.   Her love for her children, their reciprocal love and support, and her deep religious faith always sustained her in rough times. Corinne enjoyed reading and watching her favorite shows on television.  In her retired years, she enjoyed taking short trips with her son Peter to places of interest in the upper midwest and Canada.  She was also fond of doing week-end stays at local campgrounds and playing bingo.

In 1987, Corinne was recognized with a YWCA Tribute to Outstanding Women Certificate for her outstanding contribution to Lutheran Hospital - La Crosse.  Corinne was also a member of the Nokomis Grandmothers Club in La Crosse.  She was especially proud of her selection as the 2002 Nokomis Grandmother of the Year and the opportunity to ride on the back of a convertible in the Oktoberfest Maple Leaf Parade.

Corinne is survived by her daughter, MaryAnn Moore of Sparta and her children: Maria (Tom) Leis and their children, Kolby and Kaden, all of Sparta;  Matthew Moore of Arizona; Meredith Moore and her children, Molly and Landon of Sparta; her son, Thomas (Julia) Sandvick of La Crosse and their son, Thommy and son-in law, Marco Tamayo, of Orlando, FL;   her son, Peter Sandvick of La Crosse;  her daughter, Rose (Jerome) Ziegler of Holmen and their son, Anthony Ziegler of Lejeune, North Carolina; her two sisters, Janet Gundlach of La Crosse, and Tamara Reise of Suring, WI.  Corinne is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Corinne was preceded in death by her husband, Marion; her daughter, Joan Sandvick Steele; an infant sister, Carol Fiebig; her brother, Harvey Fiebig; sister-in-law, Barbara Fiebig; niece, Linda (Fiebig) Copus; son-in-law, John Moore; and brothers-in-law, Herb Gundlach and David Reise.
