Christina E Farrell

Christina Eileen Farrell, 59, of La Crescent, formerly of Munising, MI went home to heaven on March 13, 2023 after a 4-year, hard fought battle with advanced frontal lobe dementia.

She was born, October 17, 1963 to the late Walter “Elmer” and Nancy (Stubrich) Rantanen.  She was a 1981 graduate of Mather High School, Munising Michigan. Christina married her love, Patrick Farrell the night before the opening day of deer hunting November 6, 1998. Together they enjoyed downhill skiing, traveling to Michigan’s upper peninsula, out West, and to Mexico. They also raised many fur babies (especially chocolate labs) that completed their family.  Christina was a fiercely determined woman with a business-mind to match.  Once she had an idea, there was no stopping her.  She was a radiographer at Franciscan-Skemp; she taught Massage Therapy at Winona State; owned and operated Simple Pleasures Yoga & Massage in La Crescent.  She could sew and make any kind of craft and enjoyed selling her creations at local craft shows.  Her other hobbies were making and designing wedding cakes, wine making, baking, gardening, running, and singing karaoke.  Christmas was her favorite holiday. The house was decorated from top to bottom.  Christmas CDs played non-stop usually with her singing along.

Christina is survived by her husband, Patrick; son, Jason Rantanen of Upper Michigan; sister, Heather Rantanen and her daughter, Liesel, of Nashville; brother, Mark (Tiffany) Rantanen of Marquette, MI.  She is further survived by Patrick’s sister, Vickie (Craig) Williams, of Rush City, MN and their three sons: Travis, Tommy and Ted; Patrick’s brother, Bill Farrell of Houston, MN and his children Bill III and Tiffany and their families.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick’s parents and sister-in-law, Dawn Farrell on February 17, 2023.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Monday, March 20, 2023 at Schumacher-Kish funeral home and Cremation Services, 111 S. Oak St., La Crescent. Pastor Mike Woods will officiate.  You can greet the family beginning at 3:00 PM.  A Celebration of Life is planned after the service at Swing Bridge Pub, 595 Veterans Parkway, La Crescent from 5:00 – 7:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be given in Christina’s memory to her favorite charities.
