Charles J. “Chuck” Forer, 70 of La Crosse, passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, unexpectedly. He was born May 31, 1953, in La Crosse to Donald and Marcella (Houlihan) Forer. Chuck graduated from Aquinas High School in 1971 and from Viterbo University in 1983. He began his 37-year career with UW-L until his retirement in 2011.
On October 12, 1974, he married Mary Roellig at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in La Crosse, and she preceded him in death on July 18, 2004, at the age of 51. On May 14th 2014 he married Debbie (Kleinertz)Rosenow in La Crosse.
Chuck was a faithful husband, wonderful father, grandfather and friend. He was a good listener. He was kind, generous, caring, patient, always positive and loved unconditionally. Time spent with his children and grandchildren (as well as my son and grandchildren) were very special to him. He enjoyed the many choir concerts, band concerts, Christmas programs, high school musicals and sporting events. They all made him very proud.
Chuck had a full life with many interests. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Men’s Club and the Aquinas Booster Club. He enjoyed his 40 years of bowling on the Schumacher-Kish sponsored bowling team, the Forest Hills “Duffers” golf league, playing softball and winning two city championships in racquetball. Loved watching sports and attending Badger and Packer games. Enjoyed hiking, biking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, boating or just our morning walks and a quiet evening together at home. But one of his most favorites was riding his Harley with his brother Tom. Those trips were very special to him and he cherished that time together. Chuck loved to travel and we were very fortunate to be able to take many trips within the U.S. and abroad.
He faithfully fed the birds everyday and then sat in his chair reading, relaxing and watching them. He will be missed by many. Rest In Peace my love.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Debbie; son, Nick (Emily Lezpona) Forer of La Crosse; daughter, Gretchen (Nick Hammes) Lindahl of Chaseburg; three grandchildren, Montana, Elias and Sawyer Lindahl; Debbie’s son, Brian (Heidi) Rosenow of Holmen and Debbie’s grandchildren, Tyler and Dominic Rosenow; a sister, Karen (Joyce) Forer of Larson, WI; three brothers, Tom (Diane) Forer of Fitchburg, WI, Jim (Kathy) Forer of Eau Claire and Paul (Chu Ho) Forer of Texas, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary and a sister, Rita Forer.
Debbie and the family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the first responders for their professionalism and their valiant efforts to save Chuck. You are very much appreciated.
