Charles L. Bubbers

Charles Leland Bubbers, born July 7, 1946 to Carl and Lucille (Lommen) Bubbers passed away peacefully on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.

Charlie was in the US Army from 1965-1967, he was an Army scout that served in Vietnam from September 30, 1966 until September 15, 1967 when he was honorably discharged.

Upon returning home, Charlie enrolled at the St. Paul Institute of Watchmaking and became a certified watchmaker. He got a job in Spring Valley and later Winona, joining the staff at Morgan’s Jewelry store where he worked for five years.

In 1976 Charlie and Mae opened Bubbers Jewelry in Caledonia and operated it for 35 years. He enjoyed helping people and talking with everyone. Charlie’s love for helping people expanded when he started restoring trikes and wagons and donating them to the Care & Share program.

After retirement, Charlie spent much time in his garage doing scroll sawing. He loved to make ornaments and give to anyone that stopped by, he even signed up to sell some of his items at craft shows.

Charlie is survived by his wife Mae, two children David (Terresa) and Nikki (Chad) Augedahl and four grandchildren, Megan and Maya Bubbers, Riley and Dana Augedahl. One brother, Robert (Kathy) and nephews Robert Jr (Denise) and Jeff (Tracy) and in-laws: Jack and Margaret Nelson, Eric (Gail), Hazel (Mike), Lois (Tom), Mark, Rose (Randy) Tammy (Mark), Donna, Carol and Kathy.

Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, May 3 ^rd from 3 until 7 p.m. at Valley High Golf Course’s Banquet Center, 9203 Mound Prairie Dr, Houston MN, 55943.
