Carole Marlene Weibel

November 19, 1946 — August 25, 2024

In loving memory….

Carole M. Weibel

Carole was taken up to God on angel wings on August 25, 2024 while in the Mayo Hospital after a long battle of pancreatic cancer. She was born in La Crosse, WI, on November 19, 1946 to Harold and Joyce Wuensch.

She attended and graduated from Holy Trinity Catholic grade school, she attended Aquinas High School where she graduated in 1964. After High School, she attended Coleman Tech, which now is WTC to learn office machines. After she went to work at First National Bank as a savings and loan clerk, where she worked until her son was born. After the birth of her son she became a stay-at-home mom.

During her time as a stay-at-home mom, she also took care of her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed planting flowers and taking care of them in the small garden. The fun part of watching the flowers, there was a flower that she called “moon” flower that had yellow petals and would open up before dusk and stay open all night. In the morning, they would close and die. The neighbor children would always come over to watch the flowers open and very much enjoyed that and thought it was very unusual as to why at night when no one could see them.

Carole loved baking cookie boxes for the Church bazaar and for the family get-togethers. Her favorite times were baking cut-out cookies during seasonal times of the year: Valentines Day, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Everyone enjoyed eating them and they didn’t last long. Her favorite cake was made from scratch, a Cold-Water Chocolate cake with an egg white frosting which she learned from her aunt.

Carole got acquainted with who turned out to be husband at a friend’s wedding where she was an attendant for the wedding signature book. When Chuck went off to continue his military duty, they stayed in touch writing letters. One morning before going to work he surprised her with a phone call from an Alaskan remote base. They married two years after he was discharged from the military.

Carole will always be remembered as a lovable, kind, caring, compassionate tender-hearted person. She was always a friendly person who worked well with her co-workers. She never complained during her illness and didn’t want people to know of it for too many questions would be asked.

After her son reached high school Carole worked part-time in gift wrapping in the Doerflingers gift wrapping department. She then went to work for Shopko South department store, first in the HDC-hardware and flowers, for a couple years then in the pharmacy until she retired before the store finally closed its doors.

Most recently Carole enjoyed watching the Packers and Brewers following in her mom’s footsteps. Carole also enjoyed watching her favorite Hallmarks shows with her husband. Carole always made sure to tell her son what happened on each episode as she loved to share her favorite shows with him.

Her family will always remember her for her compassionate heart, her selflessness and her attentiveness to all the little details of life. Carole was always the first one to celebrate the achievements of the ones she loved and enjoyed watching her nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews enjoy time together whether it be playing with bubbles, sidewalk chalk, badminton rackets or coloring the thousands of pictures.

She is survived by her husband Charles Weibel, her son David Weibel, a sister Patricia Wuensch, nephews Joseph (Wendy) Jirsa and Steven (Heather) Jirsa, a niece Sister (Jami) Jirsa, brothers-in-law Cletus (Joan) Weibel, Paul (Suzanne) Weibel and Daniel (Ann) Weibel, sisters-in-law Mary Anne Conklin, Eileen (Robert) Rusch, Colleen (Lawrence) Weibel and Doris (Chuck) Rislow, great-nieces Alli and Haley, great-nephew Brandon, as well as many other nieces and nephews.
