Carol Mae Larsen, age 85, of Onalaska, WI, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2025.
Carol was born on May 6, 1939, in Wausau, WI, to Gordon and Mary (Jankovich) Walters. A devoted mother and grandmother, Carol was affectionately known throughout the La Crosse area for many years as “The Avon Lady.”
In her younger years, Carol loved ice skating, and later in life, she found joy in sewing and shopping. It was rare to see her without a Diet Pepsi in hand — a simple trademark of her daily life. Carol will be remembered for her spirited nature, quick wit, and her honest, unapologetic way of speaking her mind.
She is now at peace, reunited with her parents, her beloved son Kevin Neely, and several siblings who passed before her.
Carol is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Richard Larsen; her children, Mark Neely and Kathy (Kevin) Johnson; her cherished grandchildren, Chris and Nick Neely, Justin Nedvidek, Kristin (Travis) Johnson; her beloved great-grandson, Beckham; and her siblings, June Bonke and Dave Walters.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Maplewood in West Salem for their compassionate care.
A celebration of life will be held at Coulee Golf Bowl of Onalaska on May 3rd, 2025 starting at 2:00 p.m. A private family burial will take place at Mormon Coulee Memorial Park in La Crosse.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to enjoy a Diet Pepsi in her honor and share a favorite memory of Carol.
