Carol A. Lee

Carol A. Lee, 71 of La Crosse passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at the Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse. She was born June 25, 1948 in La Crosse to Robert and Genevieve “Marie” (Gillitzer) Secord. As a child, Carol contracted rheumatic fever which caused into heart valve complications. Eventually her heart problems became so severe that she need a heart transplant. After two years on the transplant waiting list she received her donor heart on July 27, 1994. Carol later fought cancer and finally succumbed to pneumonia due to her many medications.

On May, 27, 1978 Carol married Bob Lee in La Crosse. She enjoyed watching people at amusement parks and her pets. She also enjoyed company the company of two children, Stacie and Scott Simpson whom she baby sat from birth and their relationship has continued since.

Carol is survived by her husband Bob; a son, Todd Arttus; a sister, Cindy Secord; two brothers, Dave and Ron Secord all of La Crosse; two aunts, Lorraine Richter of Bloomington, WI and Edith Gillitzer of Verona, WI; an uncle, Stanley Hesselberg of Holmen; she is further survived by her “2 ^nd family” Cindy Simpson, Stacie (Cory) Simpson Harrison and Scott (Molly) Simpson. Carol was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, James Secord; an infant brother, Dennis Secord; her maternal grandparents, Tom and Mayme Gillitzer along with her paternal grandparents, Lyle and Lillian Secord.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, July 23 ^rd at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 200 West Avenue South, La Crosse with Rev. Martin Yeager officiating. Burial will be held in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, Eastman, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the funeral home from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Cathedral of St. Joseph the Workman or the UW Hospitals Heart Transplant Center.
