Carl Alan Barum was called to the green pastures of his heavenly home on February 18, 2021.
Carl passed away at Gundersen Health System surrounded by family
Carl was born April 22, 1965 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin as the first-born child to Alan and Barbara (Schoen) Barum.
He attended Fauver Hill Elementary School, Onalaska Middle School, and Onalaska High School, graduating with honors in 1983. He attended college at UW Madison and UW Platteville.
Carl most recently was employed by Gundersen Health System in the maintenance department. He also worked for many years at Menards. But his passion was farming with his dad and great uncle's on the Barum Family's Farm.
Carl enjoyed the beauty and wonder of the woods and fields. He enjoyed hunting, grilling beer-chicken and sharing stories and jokes with his friends and cousins.
Carl is survived by his mother Barbara Barum, sisters Jane Barum and Ellen Barum, a niece Blaire Anderson. He is also survived by his brothers-by-other-mothers Alan (Becky) Dutton, Mark (Tami) Wolden, Jay (Beth) Renstrom, Don (Kathy) Wolfe, Doug (Kaiti) Ziebell, several aunts, uncles and cousins on both his Barum and Schoen sides of his family.
Carl was preceded in death by his father Alan Barum, grandparents Carl and Leona Barum and John and Lillian Schoen, and several uncles, aunts and cousins.
A Catholic Mass of celebration will be held March 12 at 2:00 pm at St. Patrick's Church in Onalaska. Monsignor Steven Kachel will officiate. Due to COVID, masks will be required.
A celebration of life will be held in Carl's honor later at the Barum Farm.
