Calvin L. Grosskopf

Calvin L. “Cal” Grosskopf, 90 of Onalaska, Wis., died on Wednesday December 30, 2020, at Mayo Clinic Health System, La Crosse. He was born in Chaseburg, Wis., on May 12, 1930, to Ludwig and Louise (Lietke) Grosskopf.

Cal was a talented musician… he was well known in the area for playing banjo and guitar at local places such as the Silver Spur, the Three Dueces and many others. He was also a talented woodworker. Cal was a positive, joyful, happy person. He will be missed by all who knew him. There would be a lot more love in this world if everybody had a Cal in their life.

In addition to his wife of thirty nine years, Susan Wise, he is survived by his children, Steve (Rhonda) of Beloit, Wis., Cindy Wolfe of Onalaska, Greg (Karen) of Westby, Wis., Kim (Charlie) Nelson of Coon Valley, Wis., Carrie Jo Roberts of Mauston, Wis., Anthony (Denise) Tooley of Apple Valley, Minn., Andrew (Melissa) Brown of Milford, Del., and Laurie Niebeling of La Crescent, Minn.; eighteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and his brothers, Rallon (Kathy), Ken (Marilyn) and Terry Grosskopf.   In addition to his parents and mother and father-in-law, Tony and Stella Wallace, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Iris, one son, one daughter, one sister, one brother and one grandson.

Recognizing the risks presented by Covid-19, memorial services at Coulee Life Church will be private. A celebration of Cal’s life will be held at a later date.
