Brock D. Wittenberg

Brock passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 surrounded by family, friends and his dog, Jake. He left us way too soon. He was born on October 15, 1959 in La Crosse to Julius and Marilyn (Herlitzka) Wittenberg. He was a 1977 graduate of Central H.S. and a life- long resident of La Crosse. Brock loved the river, being out in his boat, fishing and hunting. He enjoyed golfing – his favorite course was in Arizona, though he knew Pine Creek and Maple Grove well. He had fun going to Black River Casino and on his last trip – He Won! Brock was a huge fan of all Wisconsin teams – Badgers, Packers and Brewers, especially this winning season. He loved spending time with family and friends, was kind hearted and willing to help others. He fought a good fight with cancer and was a ten + year kidney transplant survivor.

Brock is survived by his son Jeremy Lichtie, who he loved dearly and cherished all their time together, his grand-daughter Lucy, who is his pride and joy, a sister Becky Wittenberg Cohen and her husband Aaron, niece Audra, nephew Christopher, aunt Jean Herlitzka, cousins Scott and wife Michele and their children Adam & Alison, Carrie and husband Paul ‘Mort’ and Brad along with numerous other cousins and family. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Sylvia, his parents, uncles Frank ‘Sonny’ Wittenberg, Richard ‘Dick’ Herlitzka and Mike Lambert, aunt Shirley Lambert and Lucy’s mother Jess Lichtie.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at St. John’s U.C.C., 630 West Ave. S., La Crosse. Pastor John Parkyn will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 5-7 PM and again on Thursday from 10 AM until the time of service.

The family would like to thank all of Brock’s friends, the staff at Gundersen Health System and Hospice Care for their loving support.

There are no bad days on the river…………….
