Billy Butler, 73 of La Crosse passed away Sunday April 5th at his home. Billy was born December 18th, 1946 to William and Martha (Schaefer) Butler in La Crosse. Billy married Arlene Arenz December 5th 1966 and together they had two children. Billy also served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war.
Billy retired in 2010 as a semi-truck driver at Kemps and he really enjoyed retirement by keeping busy "putzing" as he was such a handyman. He was by nature, a mentor as he knew so much about so many things. Anyone that took the time to listen and learn from him would gain so much knowledge and a life time of experience. Billy loved life itself being surrounded by his family by spending time hunting with his wife, son, daughter-in-law and son in-law and also hiking at his hunting land. He also enjoyed fishing with his two grandchildren. He took care of those close to his heart and could always bring a smile to anyone with his witty sense of humor. He was a very caring and loving person. He enjoyed cooking and grilling at home and anyone that was able to enjoy his 'famous' tacos would know that no one could prepare them as good as he did.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Arlene, two children, Tammy (nee Butler) and Guyal Buckley, Keith and Sue Butler, two grandchildren, Morgan and Guyal, sister Donna Osthoff and nieces, nephews and of course his beloved dog, Sophie.
