Betty J. Ruud

Betty Jane (Formanek) Ruud passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at her home in La Crosse, WI.  She was the youngest child of Charles and Anna (Keim) Formanek born April 16, 1928 and baptized May 12, 1928 both in La Crosse. Betty married Arthur G. Ruud on June 5, 1948 at St John’s Lutheran Church in Waukon IA. She is survived by her children Robert, Steve, Sally, and Cory.

Betty graduated from the La Crosse Beauty School and worked as a beautician in La Crosse and Winona MN. After raising her children, she returned to work through the La Crosse School District at Logan Middle School in food service. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in La Crosse.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings Charles Formanek, Dolores Kennedy, Lorraine Vollenweider, and Thomas Formanek.

Betty enjoyed her beloved pets, Sunday car rides, playing Zioncheck, birdwatching and feeding squirrels, but her special joy was over 9,000 hours of volunteer service 1991 to 2017 with La Crosse Mayo Health Clinic.

Family wishes to thank the Mayo Hospice staff for their help in her care. Private graveside services to be held at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery in La Crosse with Pastor Karen Bankes officiating.
