Betty Jean Ehlo

Betty Jean Ehlo was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world peacefully on August 28, 2023 at age 75.

She was born to Reuben and Dorothy Johnson on July 23, 1948, in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Betty met her beloved husband Harold "Butch" Ehlo in Lyons, Illinois in 1969 where he had just returned home from a tour in Vietnam. They were married May 8, 1971 and spent the next 52 years building a family and a home together.

Betty had a sense of humor and the ability to be the life of the party. She has left behind many memories and stories to share. Betty also loved spending time in the kitchen baking and creating recipes to share with her family. She also enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, sewing, helping others, and let's not forget, a cold Bud-Light!

Betty is survived by her loving children, Heather Foster (Tommy) of Aurora, MO. Lori Ehlo (Amy) of Marana, AZ, and Russell Ehlo of La Crosse, WI. She was cherished by all her brothers and sisters: Marlene Lisowski (John) of Independence, WI, Diane Hendrickson (Neil) of West Salem, WI, Billy Johnson (Sue) of La Crosse, WI, David Johnson (Bonnie) of Holmen, WI, and Paula Johnson of Olive Branch, MS. Betty also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, her adored grandchildren, Britany, Isaac, and Madyson, as well as her great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karla Jean Harter of Augusta, GA, her parents Reuben and Dorothy Johnson, her sisters Mary Moses, Milly Kerchner (Dave), Sharon Gile, and her brothers Floyd Johnson (Donna), and Arnie Johnson

Betty's services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in La Crosse, WI on Saturday October 14, 2023. Visiting hours will begin at 10am and services will follow at 11am. After service, a light luncheon will be held at the schoolhouse gymnasium. Burial is to take place at a later date.
