Betty Lou Blum, 94, passed away on December 4, 2020 after a short battle against COVID-19. Betty is survived by one daughter, Lynette Patterson of Wildwood, Missouri and four grandchildren: Sara Fredrickson of Radford, Virginia; Sandra and Alan Fredrickson of Trempeleau, Wisconsin; and Kristin Patterson of New Orleans, Louisiana. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Alfred in 2004 and her daughter Anita in 2002.
After marrying Alfred Blum in 1945, she and Alfred built a home in La Crescent, Minnesota where they lived for more than 50 years and were members of First Evangelical Lutheran Church. During that time, Betty worked at a variety of jobs including switchboard operator positions at ACE Telephone in La Crescent and St. Francis Hospital in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Betty loved to travel and she and her family would always take one lengthy trip each summer to explore different parts of the United States. Despite the entire family’s lack of map skills, they always arrived home safely.
A private graveside service will be held in the spring.
