Bertha M. Humm

Bertha M. Humm, the last surviving member of the William and Emma (Delap) Prindle family passed away Thursday, April 29, 2021 at the age of 104. She was born in rural Genoa on June 24, 1916. On May 10, 1933, she married Francis Humm and they were married for more than 60 years before he passed away on August 18, 1993. Bertha worked at UWL Mitchell Hall for 16 ½ years before retiring in 1981.

Her greatest joy was in holiday and birthday gatherings at her home when family and friends would squeeze into her small house with a table full of food and lots of conversation. In later years, it was 2:00 pm Friday coffee parties for anybody who wanted to attend.

She is survived by her four children: Roy, of La Crosse, Don (Lois Mercer), of LaCrosse and Pharr Texas, Jerry (Mary) of Holmen, and Jean (Marv) Nelson of LaCrosse.  In addition, she is survived by 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, daughters-in-law Karen Humm and Ella Mae Humm, 2 granddaughters, Mary Humm in infancy and Brenda (Humm) Sibik, her parents ,4 brothers and 3 sisters.

Private funeral services will be held for family with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.
