Bernice Theresa Langen Bernsdorf, 100 of Hokah, MN passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the Valley View Healthcare and Rehab in Houston, MN. She was born April 30, 1917 in Caledonia, MN to Otto and Anna (VonArx) Langen. Bernice married Wilbur Bernsdorf on June 30, 1947 in La Crescent, MN and he preceded her in death on January 20, 2001.
She attended St. Peter’s Grade School and graduated from St. Peter’s High School. She was a member of St. Peter’s Parish and Altar Society. Bernice was also a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 0498. She worked at Riviera Sportswear and was the bookkeeper at Hokah Lumber for many years.
Family and faith were most important in her life. She loved to garden and plant beautiful flowers, she also enjoyed sewing and crocheting. Bernice always had time for a game of cards. Following her retirement, she and her husband enjoyed winter vacations to Florida, Arizona and Texas.
Bernice is survived by two children; Roger (Marilyn) Bernsdorf of Hokah and Elaine (Jim) Howarth of La Crescent; 8 grandchildren, Michelle (Gary) Beck of Genoa, WI, Julie (Paul) Moore of Holmen, WI, Sara Walther of Hokah, Lisa Montgomery of Menomonie, WI, Amy (Joe) Runningen of White Bear Lake, MN, Karla (Craig) Helke of Hokah, Christopher (Hilary) Bernsdorf of Hokah and Tom Bernsdorf of Hokah, along with 21 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband Wilbur, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Gary and Ronald Bernsdorf; a great-grandchild, Paige Elizabeth Helke and her twin sister, Bernadette Bissen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 3 rd at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Hokah with Rev. Pratap Reddy Salibindla officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of Mass. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter’s Catholic School or St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
