Bernadine Irene Miller

January 7, 1945 — April 11, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Bernadine ‘Bernie’ Irene Miller announces her peaceful passing after a long struggle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at the age of 73 years.

Bernie had many hobbies in which she enjoyed. Her draw to the warmth of the outdoors brought her out of the house by gardening, playing with dogs, long bike rides and walks. Bernie’s avid love of arts would see her attending plays, concerts and movies in the area as often as she could. Even when her health faltered, she looked forward to indulging in new movies with friends and family. However, her favorite hobby was spending time with friends and family. She relished the opportunity to talk to friends and family whether in person, on the telephone, letters, cards, emails or the dreaded text.

Bernie will be lovingly remembered by sister Sandra (Roger) Von Arx, bother Glenn (Mary) Miller and son Keith. Bernie will also be fondly remembered by her eight nieces and nephews, Greg (Kara) Von Arx, Bob (Dar) Von Arx, Patty Von Arx, Jackie (Bill) Cheney, Dean (Candy) Miller, Robin (Ken) Stoller, Rodney (Tammy) Miller and Dan (Nicki) Miller. Bernie was predeceased by her mother Mary Jane, father Bernard, brother Dennis and sister-in-law Edith (Peterson) all of which she missed dearly.

Numerous friends also touched Bernie’s life and made her feel safe and comfortable. Barb Greatens, Carol Larson, Carol Moore, Deb Sieber, Dorothy Gilbert, Helen Hafner, Jackie Tulius, Janice Schnieder, Joan Nimmo, Joanne Bagniefski, Julienne Ripp, Richard (John ‘Toot’) Johnson, Ruthie Strabley and Susan Giblin. These are just to name a few whose love and caring made such a difference in Bernie’s life.

Words of remembrance can be sent to the Family of Bernadine Miller, 2432 Highland Street, La Crosse, WI 54601. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Bernie can do so to St. Peter’s Catholic School, 34 Main Street, P.O. Box 357, Hokah, MN 55941.
