Arthur “Art” LeRoy Engh, 76, of La Crosse, passed away at his home on Thursday, December 7, 2017.
Art was born July 22, 1941, to Oscar and Alida (Lunde) Engh on the family farm in rural Westby. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Viroqua and spent his childhood in the Viroqua area, attending several country schools and graduating from Viroqua High School in 1959. In 1961, he married Barbara Bakkum in the Coon Valley Lutheran Church. They had two children, Kristi (Tim Medinger) and Brent (Kelly Weise).
In 1964, Art and his family moved from Viroqua to La Crosse where he continued working for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. After over 31 years, he retired from Goodyear and worked for Evans Implement in West Salem for about three years. In 1998, he and Barb both retired. They continued to do some traveling, and Art also worked for an area farmer and Cedar Creek Golf Course.
Art enjoyed life. He and his family enjoyed camping, especially trips out west. He always looked forward to snowmobiling; the many trips to Hayward, Minocqua and Mercer. Vacations to Yellowstone were also a highlight. Art also enjoyed golfing, reading, and woodworking. Sometimes, a simple ride out into the country was his thing.
Art is survived by his wife, Barb; his daughter, Kristi (Tim) Medinger, and their children, Paul (Bobbi) Medinger, Beth (Josh) Bach, Ted Medinger (Molly Sheehan), Mark Medinger (Adam Yates), Anna (Zach) Mally, and Luke Medinger (Clara Degallier); and daughter-in-law, Kelly Weise Engh, and her children, Katie, Sara and Cole Engh. He is also survived by ten great grandchildren; his siblings, Annetta Schultz, Judy (Jim) Beaver, Darlene (Laurel) Hestetune, and Orlin (Sharon) Engh. He was preceded in death by his son, Brent; his parents; brothers-in-law, Robert Robson and Irvin Schultz; and his step-father, Albion Hanson.
