Arnold J. Breidel, 87, of La Crosse, WI., died on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at Gundersen Health System, La Crosse.  He was born in rural La Crosse County on April 22, 1935 to Alfred and Isabella (Potaracke) Breidel.

As a young man, Arnie attended Smith Valley School, while working on their family farm. He then attended vocational school for cabinet making.  In 1957, he served in the US Army. Arnie met and married the love of his life, Beverly (Bev) Brown on August 30 th , 1958.  When asked by health care providers if he had a recent fall, he would respond “I fell once 64 years ago for my wife Bev”.  The couple made La Crosse their home; where they raised three daughters.

He worked as a glass shop foreman for 23 years, and ended his working career in 2004, by owning his own carpentry business.  Arnie enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, going fishing, sharing his deer hunting stories and trips to the casinos with his friends Jim and Kathy.  Next to his wife and family, his biggest thrill in life, was winning the Publishers Clearing House.

Arnie is survived by his wife Bev, daughters Ruth Breidel of La Crosse and Patti (Glen) Griffith of Sparta. Son-in-law Jeff Hoeth of Sparta.  Arnie will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Andrea Connelly, Nicklaus (Amanda) Hoeth, Danielle (Andy) Prell and Kristen (Tyler) Small.  He is further survived by his pride and joy, great-grandchildren Samuel and Arabella Hoeth, Kaylea and Emerson Small; and Dylan Prell.  Arnie also leaves behind his sister Anne (Jim) Berekvam, his sister-in-law Margaret Brown, his Griffith step-grandchildren and families; and many special nieces, nephews and friends.
