Ann Kohl-Re of La Crosse, formerly from Madison, passed away peacefully on Friday May 24, 2024, surrounded by family. She was born on February 7th, 1961, in North Fon du Lac, to Harold and Jane (Neilson) Kohl. She was a graduate of Lawrence University (BA) and UW-La Crosse (MEd).
Ann Kohl-Re was a dedicated art teacher committed to the advancement of creative and artistic abilities of her pupils using diverse mediums. She taught at Logan and Lincoln middle schools and understood the relevance of art in the cognitive development of her students. Teaching and helping children flourish brought joy and fulfillment to her work and personal life. Additionally, Ann shared her spiritual and artistic gifts to bring God to incarcerated people. As an active member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Madison, she was active in jail ministries.
Ann loved the outdoors. Nature, in all her forms were sources of artistic and spiritual expression. She enjoyed sailing, hiking, canoeing, and camping. An avid traveler, she and her family spent summers exploring the world.
Ann is survived by her beloved husband Antonio Re and her children: Liliana Re, Evan Kohl, and daughter-in-law Lauren Allin. She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Jane, her brother Tom, nephew JT Codd and sister-in-law Jeanne (Fuhrmann) Kohl.
Other survivors include three brothers Tim (Gail), Todd (Victoria), Mark, and one sister, Faith (Joe) Codd, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial mass will be held at the Roncalli Newman Center in La Crosse on Thursday 6/27/24. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 followed by a mass. Lunch and a celebration of life will be served immediately following the services.
