Anh Pham

Anh Pham, age 82 of La Crosse, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Riverside Transitional Care in La Crosse. She was born September 8, 1941 to the late Ty Bui and Guong (Tran) Bui in Thanh Hoa Vietnam.

Anh Pham has spent much of her life “giving back to God what I can”. Escaping her native Vietnam in 1975, Pham, her husband The, and their four children were able to eventually settle in La Crosse, where they were helped by the Catholic Diocese. The couple worked very hard –The at St. Francis and Anh at St. Joseph Nursing Home and cleaning the Family Radio Building for more than 35 years (where she was an investor in the employee stock plan). All four of their children would go on to graduate from Aquinas High School , earn college degrees, and have successful lives and careers.

Pham built a house for her parents and siblings in Vietnam, and has led trips to the country for her friends to meet and stay with her family. A devout Catholic, nearly every day Pham is at St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral by 5:45 A.M. to prepare the church for daily Mass. Once a year, she makes as many 3,000 eggrolls for an annual sale, the proceeds of which are given to the church. She has often treated groups of priests and friends to meals and fellowship at local restaurants. Place of Grace Catholic Worker House and the YMCA are also the beneficiaries of Pham’s hard work, where she does everything from making coffee to cleaning to “doing whatever they need”. She is well known in the La Crosse area for her kindness and willingness to help others.

She was preceded in death by: her mother, Goung Thi Tran and her father, Ty Van Bui; and sister Ren Thi Bui.

Anh is survived by Anh’s husband: The Pham; Anh's children: son Tan Pham (Susan), son Trung Pham (Katie), daughter Triet (Tia) Silvia (Benjamin), and son Trac Pham (Jennifer); Anh's siblings: brother Khanh Bui, brother Phoung Bui, brother Ly Bui, brother Huan Bui, sister Nhai Bui, and brother Hung Bui; Anh's grandchildren: Jaythe, Brandon, Alyssa, Austin, Olivia, Hannah, Laura, Alec, Sophia, and Nicholas.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 9:30 a.m., at the Cathedral of St. Joseph the Workman, 530 Main Street, La Crosse. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024 at Schumacher-Kish, 200 West Ave. S., La Crosse. Burial will be at the Catholic Cemetery, 519 Losey Blvd., La Crosse, Wisconsin 54601.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation on behalf of Anh Pham to the Cathedral of St. Joseph the Workman Church. Please make checks payable to Cathedral of St. Joseph the Workman, footnote Anh Pham in memo field and please mail to 530 Main St., La Crosse, WI 54601.
