Angela M. DuMond, 102, of La Crescent, MN passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Bethany – St. Joseph Care Center in La Crosse. She was born on December 15, 1915 in Ridgeway, MN to Martin and Mary (Monahan) Gallagher. She attended a one room school house through 8 th grade and graduated in 1933 from Loretto High School in Caledonia. She met the love of her life William “Bill” DuMond while at a church function. She and Bill were married on December 18, 1944 at St. Patrick’s Church, Ridgeway, MN.
Angie worked for many years as an elementary school lunch lady, retiring at age 70. She also worked as a poll person for several years worth of elections. She was a proud, full - blooded Irishwoman and fit the part. She was full of spunk. She was a charter member of Crucifixion Parish and volunteered in the parish for over 60 years. She was the most devoted Mom and loving Grandma and Great-Grandma. Her girls and her grandchildren were sources of pride and joy. She always had treats ready and never missed a concert, sporting event or recital. She was always ready to go well into her 90’s.
She is survived by her daughters Margaret Mary (Russ) Skifton, Maureen (Randy) Thompson and Shari (Dan) Holliday. She is further survived by her grandchildren Russ (Jennifer) Skifton, Kristin Skifton, Stephanie (John) Ramirez, Kelli Holliday and Ryan (Annikki) Holliday, her great grandchildren Noah, Cody and Adam Skifton and Jemma Ramirez, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill, brothers Ambrose and Sylvester, sisters Winnifred and Bernadetta and a grandson Brad Frohmader.
Mom, we were so blessed to have you as long as we did. We love you, we’ll “just keep a-goin!”
The family would like thank the staff of Bethany – St. Joseph Care Center for their impeccable care, and to her special in- home caregivers Darlene Wolter and Taylor Hoesley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Crucifixion Catholic Church, 423 S. 2 nd St., La Crescent. Rev. Gregory Havel will officiate. Burial will follow in Crucifixion Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Schumacher – Kish Funeral & Cremation Services, 111 S. Oak St. on Monday from 4:30 – 6:30 PM where a rosary will be recited at 6:30, and again at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Brad Frohmader Scholarship Fund at Aquinas High School.
