Amy Cerny Ramsay, 43 of La Crosse, reposed in the Lord on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Health System of La Crosse. She was born In Madison, Wis. on December 23, 1973 to Arnold and Nancy (Erskine) Cerny. Graduating from Sun Prairie High School in 1992, Amy went on to earn her BA in Communications from North Central College in Naperville ILL. In 1996. She furthered her education at Ball State University in Muncie, IN. earning her MA in Rhetoric in 1997.
Amy taught full time at UW Oshkosh and later Western Technical College from 1998 to 2017. She taught adjunct at Madison Area Tech, Moraine Park, UW Fox, and Oshkosh Lourdes. Amy’s expertise was in public speaking courses and interpersonal communications. Amy’s huge heart for people was evident in everything she did. She was involved in many ministries at church including adult catechism, Sunday School, choir and many others. She was passionate about social justice causes both locally and globally. Among her many interests were sewing, cooking, painting, music and entertaining.
In addition to her husband Scott of La Crosse, she is survived by her daughter Gianna Ramsay of La Crosse, her sister Sarah (Ben) Weber of Portage, Wis., brother in law Jeff Ramsay of Oshkosh, Wis., her parents Arnie and Nancy Cerny of Plainfield, Wis., and her mother and father in law Kathy and Bill Ramsay of Oshkosh.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to: Drs. Ben Jarman, Jackie Van Manen, Win Hlaing and Hillary Bingol; pharmacists Adam Matz and Claire Sweet of CVS; Amy’s colleagues at Western Technical College; the hard working nurses of Mayo Hospice and Mayo 7 th Floor and all the extended family, friends, neighbors and even total strangers who have made our cross easier to bear.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Mary Mother of the Church parish; 2006 Weston Street, La Crosse with Father Dean Wilhelm of St. Elias parish officiating. Burial will follow at Mormon Coulee Memorial Park, town of Shelby. Visitation will be held at the church from 9am until the time of services. A less formal “Celebration of life”, sharing of memories and funeral luncheon will be held at the Pump House, 119 King Street in La Crosse following the services from 12:30 until 4pm. Mourners are welcome to come to just the funeral, just the celebration of life or both. Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services of La Crosse is in charge of arrangements.
