Aloysius O. “Al” Lueck, 86 of La Crosse passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 10, 2018. He was born August 19, 1931 in Sparta, WI to Oscar and Vera (Kelly) Lueck. On April 15, 1952 he married the love of his life Margaret F. Meier in St. Joseph Ridge Catholic Church, St. Joseph Ridge, WI. And she preceded him in death on July 19, 2016.
Al and Margaret farmed for many years on St. Joseph Ridge while raising nine kids. Al worked for Allis Chalmers Foundry for 11 years until the company’s closing. He then worked as a custodian for K Mart, Coulee Bank, St. Thomas More Catholic Church and St. James Catholic Church for many years.
Al was proud to have served as a volunteer fireman for the Shelby Fire Department for 51 years. He served as president for the Santa Claus Club, and held positions with the Mormon Coulee Lion’s Club and the Wisconsin Lion’s District D2. Al was also a longtime member of Mary, Mother of the Church Parish and a 43-year member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 839 of La Crosse.
Al is survived by nine children; Robert (Julie) Lueck, Allen Lueck, David (Arlene) Lueck all of La Crosse, Debra Lyskowski of Onalaska, Vicky (Darral) Faas, Brian Lueck, Cheryl (Joel) Anderson, Kevin (Brenda) Lueck and Becky (Terry) Valentine all of La Crosse; 20 grandchildren; Sharon Siam, Jeremy (Katurah) Lueck, Amber (Jackson) Broer, Kiaya Lueck, Jacob (Caity) Lueck, Andrea (Ross) Auna, Stephanie Lueck, Teresa (Mike) Lueck-Seiben, Ashley (Joey) Loefflad, Amanda Butterfield, Aimee Lueck, Joshua (Jessie Cauffman) Anderson, Shannon Anderson, Aaron (Jessica) Lueck, Jasmine (Eric) Valentine, Kelly (Robert) Meyer, Alexander, Ajay and Alia Valentine and Kirk (Chelsea) Valentine; 22 great-grandchildren; Dalton Siam, Danielle Siam, Destin Lueck, Nevaeh Lueck, Ethan Nelson, Amira Broer, Ava Broer, Addison Broer, Willow Stevens, Gunner Lueck, Lily Berends, Stetson Loefflad, Hunter Aloysius Lueck, Lukas Valentine, Claire Valentine, Hailey Meyer, Tyson Meyer, Oliver Valentine, Noah Seiben, Julian Seiben, Memphis Loefflad, Greg Butterfield and Colton Lueck; two sisters, Garnet (Robert) Bina of St. Paul, MN and Kathleen Schmidt of Delavan, WI; a sister-in-law, Catherine Meier of Riverside, CA. In addition to his wife Margaret, he was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, William Lyskowski; a brother, Gerald Lueck; a brother-in-law, Leonard Meier; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Ralph) Cangson and Elaine Salisbury.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, January 16 th at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish, 2006 Weston Street, La Crosse with Rev. Brian D. Konopa officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 4-7 P.M. and again on Tuesday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
