Allen Frederick Schneck was born on March 21, 1934, in Benton Harbor to Fred and Ida (Marske) Schneck. He was baptized and confirmed his faith in Jesus Christ at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stevensville. Allen never married but remained close to his parents and siblings’ families until his death. He lived in St. Joseph, Michigan nearly his entire life, spending the last four years in the La Crosse Wisconsin to be near family. He worked at Schneck's Super Market, which was owned by his father, Fred Schneck. After Fred died, he and his brother Arvin took over the ownership of the business. Customers may remember Allen delivering groceries to their homes long before it became the trend it is today. Allen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Joseph since childhood. Upon moving to Wisconsin, he and his sister Margo and her husband Bill Pyatt joined St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Onalaska. Allen was preceded in death by parents: Fred and Ida Schneck, brother Arvin Schneck, and sister, Karen Schneck Stearns. He is survived by his sisters: Lorraine (Karl) Neuman, Margot (William) Pyatt, and several nieces and nephews and their families. “Uncle Al” will be remembered by those who knew and loved him so dearly for his quiet generosity, steadfast faith, love of a good joke, his laugh and smile, love of the Chicago Cubs, snowmobiling, and corny greetings whenever he arrived. His family rejoices in the crown of glory he now wears, won for him by his Savior Jesus Christ. A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 26th, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Nodine, Minnesota, with the Reverend Ethan Boese officiating. Allen’s remains will be interred at a later date at Lincoln Charter Township Cemetery, 4356 Red Arrow Highway, Stevensville, Michigan. Memorials may be made in Allen’s memory to Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Joseph, Michigan.
