Agnes “Nan” Gourlay Rand, 75 passed away Friday, January 12, 2018 in Onalaska, Wisconsin. She fought a brave, twenty-year battle with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, and died peacefully in her own home with her children by her side. Nan was born in Dunoon, Scotland, on May 16, 1942 to John and Mary (Adams) Munro.
Nan married and left home in Scotland in 1963. She was proud of her Scottish heritage and equally proud of her adopted home in the United States. A consummate mother and military spouse, she lived in England, Scotland, Iceland, Turkey, and several states with her family. Later in life, Nan enjoyed researching family history, gardening, and visiting with her friends, family and grandkids. Nan studied nursing and worked as a medical assistant for several years. Prior to marriage, she was a seamstress for a sail maker.
Nan is survived by her daughter Lorraine Rand and husband Jim Wilson of Midlothian, Virginia; son Colin Rand and wife Gail of Annapolis, Maryland; a sister Barbara Tschoerner and husband James of Jarrell, Texas; and her ex-husband John Rand of Las Vegas, Nevada. She is also survived by four loving grandchildren, Miranda Wilson, Aidan Rand, Chloe Rand, and Logan Rand, and many nieces and nephews.
Her son, daughter, and brother-in-law Steve Rand lovingly cared for her the last few months of her life. Many members of the Rand family also provided assistance with her care in recent years. The family gives them and everyone else who cared for Nan their greatest gratitude.
