Agatha S. (Flick) Schild, 104, died on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at the Brookdale Assisted Living Center in La Crosse. She was born on May 2, 1919 in Chickasaw County, IA to Peter and Mary (Diederich) Flick. She attended St. Mary’s School in North Washington, IA and after leaving school she was a helping hand for many people. On October 29, 1945 she married her first husband, Louis Bouska, and together they owned and operated Bouska’s Taystryte Café in New Hampton, IA until her husband died in 1958. Agatha operated the café alone until 1962 when she sold it and came to La Crosse and worked at the Country Kitchen. It was there that she met her second husband, Wilbur Schild, and they were married on December 26, 1964. She and Wilbur enjoyed gardening at the house that Wilbur built on Hillview Avenue. They also enjoyed visiting their nieces and nephews in the surrounding area. Agatha also enjoyed quilting and knitting. Wilbur passed away on March 5, 1987. Agatha stayed in her home, still gardening and doing what she loved best, until the age of 102 when she moved to Brookdale in 2021.
She leaves behind many nieces and nephews, very dear friends, and neighbors. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Cletus (Laura) Flick, and two sisters, Marie (Bill) Miller and Jennie (Ray) Burgart.
