Adrianna "Ann" D. Miller

Adrianna D. “Ann” (Klos) Miller, 97, of La Crosse, passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 18, 2023 at Mayo Clinic Health System.  She was born in Barre Mills, WI on February 28, 1926, to Alfred and Anna (Kirschner) Klos. They later moved to St Joseph Ridge.  On April 24, 1951 she married Kenneth D Miller in La Crosse.  They were happily married for 62 years until Dad’s death in 2013.

At the age of 14 she became a caregiver for two different families, at 16yrs she moved to La Crosse where she worked for Schrier Grocery Store. After her marriage they moved to Spokane, WA where dad was stationed in the Army Air Corp. In 1953 they returned to La Crosse.

Ann was employed by The Elks Club where she was a waitress for many years and then later as a waitress at the Doerflinger’s Tea Room.  Mom and Dad enjoyed bowling in a couple’s league and, also individual leagues. They also enjoyed golfing. Mom was a wonderful golfer and accomplished two holes in one. They spent many winters in Mesa, AZ.  Mom was a lover of gathering with family and friends, playing cards and board games, her favorite was Rummikub.  She also enjoyed setting jigsaw puzzles, crocheting and other crafts, and flower gardens.

She is survived by her five daughters, Debra Miller of Tampa, FL, Diane (Mark) Heinzel of Hayward, WI, Donna (Steve) Knutson of Tampa, FL, Denise “Dee Dee” (Jay) Burns of La Crosse, WI, Dixie (Ken) Lightfield of El Cajon, CA. Her 12 grandchildren Shawn (Christine) and Jason Ortega; Sam (Katie) Heinzel and Jamie (Patrick) Vogt; Andy (Priyanka), Jessica and Stephanie Knutson; Jenny (Mike Klemstein) and Michael Burns; David (Brie) and Brittany Lightfield and Danny (Jazmin) Brindley. Ten great grandchildren, Mason, Jameson, Grayson, Levi, Allen, Kennie Sue, Kenneth “KJ”, Veronica “Nikki”, Michael, and Greyson. Three sisters Jeanette Schoen, Patrica Antony and Clarice (Don Wuensch), a brother Cornelius (Mary Jo) Klos and a sister-in-law Jean Klos. Also, many nieces and nephews.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings: Gregory (Catherine, Roberta) Klos, Bernadine (Donald) Harbort, Harold (Edith) Klos, Evelyn (James) Le Jeune, Virginia (Arlan) Dwyer, Janet, Lauren and David Klos.  Brothers-in-law Richard Schoen, Donald Antony, Donald (Connie) Miller and Robert (Betty) Miller.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday October 23 at 10:30 at Mary Mother of the Church, 2006 Weston St. La Crosse, WI. Visitation prior at the church from 9:00-10:30 with a lunch to follow the mass. Internment to take place on a later date at the Catholic Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to Mary Mother of the Church Parish or the Salvation Army.  Ann’s family would like to thank the wonderful caring staff at Mayo (7th and 9th floor) and the staff and residents of Cass St Assisted Living.  She was blessed to have so many friends wherever she went.
