Ricky Craig “R.C.” Worden, 62, of La Crosse, died at his home of natural causes on Friday, March 31, 2017.
He was born in Snyder, Texas on April 27, 1954. He served in the U.S. Navy for 3 years during the Viet Nam War and was a POW. On June 2, 1986, he married Susan Fanello in Las Vegas, NV.
Ricky always appreciated the assistance he received and relished the friendships he made through the La Crosse Veterans Center, Camp American Legion and Rivers of Recovery. He also loved participating in many activities sponsored by the North American Squirrel Association (n.a.s.a.) such as deer and turkey hunts, ice fishing, and camping and canoeing.
Ricky was handy at almost anything. Whether it was electrical work, concrete work, carpentry, or auto repair, Ricky could do it and was always ready to lend a helping hand when needed.
Ricky is survived by his wife, Sue; a daughter, Ashley Worden of La Crosse; a son, Clay Meadows and his family of Henderson, NV; a sister, Lonna Harman of Boulder City, NV; his mother-in-law, Mary Jane Fanello of La Crosse; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Rich) Garbers and Barb (Brian) O’Leary, both of La Crosse; a brother-in-law, Lee Harman of Las Vegas; special nephews, Greg and Ray and their families as well as nieces, Ami, Amanda and Andrea and their families; Jo Gremore of Texas, who was like a second mother to Ricky; and a very special friend, Fred Zenz of La Crosse. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Giuseppi “Joe” Fanello.
A private family gathering celebrating Ricky’s life will be held at a later date. Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services of La Crosse is assisting with arrangements.
