Raymond Deml

January 31, 1925 — March 18, 2017

Our Dad, Raymond Deml, joined Mom in heaven, Saturday, March 18 th , at Mayo Health System of La Crosse, Wis. He was born January 31, 1925, in Vernon County to John and Lotus (Schubert) Deml. Dad was baptized at St. Charles Catholic Church, Genoa, Wis. He attended Holy Trinity and Aquinas schools in La Crosse.

Dad was a veteran of WWII having served in the Marine Corps in the South Pacific. Following his service, he attended Bradley University in Peoria, Ill.

On November 5, 1955, Dad married the love of his life, our Mom, Arlene (Sime) Lowell. At this time, they became an instant family of 5. They raised the first 3 of us along with the second batch of 3 children in Chipmunk Coulee, rural La Crosse. Mom and Dad enjoyed their life there for 33 years, before moving to La Crosse. They also loved camping and traveling to Arizona. Dad enjoyed the Packers, Badgers, carving, reading, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. He loved sharing his knowledge with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Dad retired from the Milwaukee Road/Soo Line railroad after 30 years of service. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church and the Stoddard American Legion.

Dad is survived by two daughters, Mary (John) Huntington of Marion, Iowa, Nancy (Donald Schmidt) Pradovic of West Salem, Wis.; two sons, Michael (Mary Lou Bartoletti) Lowell of Green Bay, Wis., and Timothy (Kathy) Deml of Rapid City, S. Dak.; two daughters-in-law, Lori Lowell of La Crosse and Jean Lowell of West Bend; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lavon Brague of La Crosse and Mona (Tony) Colera of San Diego, Cal.; seven brothers, Robert of La Crosse, Norman (Janice) of La Crosse, Richard (Janis) of Onalaska, Donald (Mardi) of La Crosse, Earl of Tampa, Fla., Carl (Farrel) of West Salem, and Gorden (Bonnie) of La Crosse; along with a host of nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by Mom, Arlene, his wife of 56 years; his sons, Donald Lowell and Gregory Deml; his brother, John; his brother-in-law, Ronald Brague; and three sisters-in-law, Doris Deml, Chris Deml and Carol Deml.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 24th, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1333 13 th Street South, La Crosse.  Rev. Rick Roberts will officiate.  Entombment, with military honors provided by the Stoddard American Legion, will follow in the St. Francis of Assisi Mausoleum in the Catholic Cemetery.  Family and friends may call from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., on Thursday at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 200 West Ave. So., La Crosse, and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass on Friday at the church.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given in Dad’s name.
