Gertrude V. Graham

Gertrude V. Graham, 89, of Onalaska, died on Sunday, March 12 ^th , 2017. She was born on August 18,1927 in Oconomowoc, WI to Paul and Florence (Hoeft) Shutt. Gert married Jesse Graham on August 19, 1950 in La Crosse, WI. She had worked at Western Union as an operator and also at Jefferson School as a cook. Gert never met a stranger and maintained many friendships from her travels with Jesse. She was an avid card player and showed no mercy in Euchre, even to the family. You could always count on cookies in the cookie jar if you dropped in to see her. Those who knew her well, knew that you never called her during a Wisconsin Badger game or a Green Bay Packer game. She made many friends at the “Y” during water exercise and playing cards. She loved to go out to eat and was always the center of family gatherings.

Gert is survived by a daughter Nancy (Rick) Johnson of Onalaska, two sons, Mark (Cheryl) Graham of Lake Wales, FL and Chuck (Kim O'Flaherty) Graham of Eagan, MN, 10 grandchildren, Scott Graham, Daniel Graham, Sarah (Brian) Wilson, Dawn (Alex) Smith, Michael (Stephanie) Sewell, Eric (Michelle) Johnson, Matt (Tamara) Johnson, Amy (Zach ) Tevis, Kipp Graham and Zach Graham, and sixteen great-grandchildren, Dylan (Graham), Austin, Skylar (Sewell), Piper, Neve, Elias (Johnson), Jackson, Evelyn, Riley (Johnson), Ellyot, Natalie (Smith), Alyssa, Kylie, Cooper (Wilson), Natalie, Mason (Tevis).

Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 17 ^, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services, 907 Sand Lake Road, Onalaska. Pastor Mark Solyst will officiate. Burial will follow in the Onalaska City Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 – 6 PM and also on Friday from 10 AM until the time of service. She was an active member of the “Y” so in lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to R. W. Houser Family YMCA, 400 Mason St., Onalaska, WI.
