Kenneth J. Kellicut

July 25, 1927 — March 8, 2017

Kenneth J. Kellicut 89, peacefully went to his Heavenly home on March 8, 2017. It was his wish to be home at the time of his passing with his loving family at his side.   Ken was born July 25,1927 to Kenneth Sr. and Tressa Kellicut in Rosendale, WI. Ken graduated from Viroqua High School in 1945. He excelled in sports, lettering in football, baseball, and was Captain of the basketball team. He was an avid Packer, Badger and Brewer fan. Upon graduation, he and his buddies enlisted and proudly served in the US Navy. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion, La Crosse. After his tour ended, he returned to the Viroqua area where he dated the love of his life, Jerrine Thompson. They met at the skating rink in Viroqua and skated their way to marriage on Feb.5, 1948 in Viroqua. Ken and Jerri moved to La Crosse where he went to work at Trane Co. as a welder. While working and raising 4 children, Ken decided to further his education and obtain his electrical license. Ken became an electrical contractor and started his company, Arrow Electric, Inc. He completed many projects in the Lacrosse area and surrounding cities. He brought both his sons into the business as it grew. Ken was widely respected by anyone that did business with him. Ken was a very warm and caring person with a wonderful sense of humor. Ken and Jerri were members of the original La Crosse Country Club. They loved to play golf and dance. They were members of the Senate dance club, Ken served as past President. They were also members of Black Hawk Dance Club and Plugs. They hosted many fun-filled Halloween parties at their home. Ken and Jerri travelled extensively throughout Europe and loved Rome the most. They enjoyed many vacations to Jamaica, Hawaii and the Caribbean. They spent 30 wonderful years in Cedar Key, FL. in the winter, meeting friends from all over the US. He was an avid hunter, enjoying the hunts with his sons.

Ken is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Jerrine. He is also survived by four children, Jeanette, Steve (Bev) Kellicut of Onalaska, Kevin (Marie) of West Salem, and Laurie (Bill) Riordan of Holmen; seven grandchildren, Todd (Nicole) Gaynor, MN, Krista (fiancé Matt Duval) Kellicut of Onalaska, Stacie (Dan) Miller, MN, Craig Kellicut, of Trempealeau, Kate (Rick) Antony, of Eleva, WI, Annie (Jim) Hillcoat of La Crosse, and Kimberly (Jeff) Strittmater of Madison; and ten great grandchildren, Brooke, Kyler, Samantha, Allyssa, Natalie, Marshall, Drew, Brendan, Blake, and Grace. Ken is also survived by four step-grandchildren, Holly (Chris) Smith, of North Carolina, Tara (Brandt) Stevermeier of La Crosse, and Avrie (Bryon) Duffy of West Salem; four step great grandchildren, Tiegen, Marley, Parker, and Declan; and by his very special cat, Callie. Ken is also survived by a sister, Betty Fay of Rockford, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Stanley Kellicut and a brother Buron Kellicut. The family is very appreciative of the compassionate care of dad’s special care-giver, Donna Hass and also of the long-time care of Dr. Michael Dolan. Our appreciation of the Hospice team from Gunderson-Lutheran and the patient transfer team. A very special thank you to the Veterans Association of Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 13 th , 2017 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, La Crosse, with Pastor Richard Pamperin officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery with Military Honors by the American Legion Post 52 of La Crosse. Memorials may be given to First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 West Avenue So., La Crosse, WI. Friends may call from 5-7 pm on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services of La Crosse and at the church on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
