James M. Atchison

James “Jim” Atchison, 84, of La Crosse, WI, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017. He was born November 12, 1932 to Wallace and Mable (Indahl) Atchison. He married the love of his life Shirley Fredrickson on July 30, 1966 at Bethel Lutheran Church in La Crosse, WI.

As a young man, Jim was a member of the national guards and was honorably discharged, after which he perused other interests volunteering as an axillary police officer while holding various positions of employment. After his children were born his interest shifted to working as a driver for La Crosse Auto/Car Quest and Napa Auto Supply. Jim’s hobbies included watching football as an avid Green Bay Packer fan, a love of horses which led to his interest in country western movies and music. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, as well as camping with his family. He also enjoyed spending many moments with his two grandchildren.

Jim is survived by his wife Shirly Atchison, son Mark Atchison, daughters Mary Jane Lecher and Amy Atchison. But the highlight of his life was his two loving grandchildren Aliyah and Louden. He is also survived by his brothers Willis Atchison and Robert Atchison.

He was preceded in death by his sister Bernice (George) Helgeson, brothers Warren (Katherine) Atchison and William (Rosemary) Atchison, loving parents Wallace and Mable Atchison, and son in law Eric Lecher, along with other family relations.

Memorial services will be held at 11am on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in La Crosse. Pastor Joann Richmond will officiate. Friends may call on the family Thursday morning from 10am until the time of services.
