Glenn Frederick “Joey” Wells, 48 of West Salem, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at his home where he spent his life. Joey was born July 27, 1968 in La Crosse to Jack and Jacqueline (Needham) Wells. Joey as he was known to his family and friends was an adult with disabilities with an incredible smile, an adventuresome spirit and a sweet and loving demeanor.
Joey loved speed. Motorcycles, boats, four wheelers and snowmobiles are a few of the things he loved to ride on. He used to make motor sounds to encourage people to take him out for a fast ride. Joey also really enjoyed travel, hotels, restaurants, shows, zoos, ball games and more. You really can’t mention what Joey loved without mentioning sweets; ice cream, donuts, Reese’s peanut butter cups, chocolate cake and brownies; and most importantly, Little Debbie Swiss Cakes, Yum!
Joey was definitely a Ho Ho Kind of Guy! He gave the sweetest hugs by leaning into you and the sweetest kisses. Joey attended Coulee Region Adult Day Care after 20 plus years at Riverfront, Inc. He had a lot of good friends and was greeted at the door. There may have been a rumor that Joey threw his shoes (ha ha)! Joey is greatly missed by those who knew him. Rest in Peace, Sweet Joey.
Joey was preceded in death by his father, Jack Wells; brothers, Roger Wells, Jack (Jean) Wells, Jr., Donald (Lu) Wells and a foster brother, Anthony “Tony” Althoff. He is survived by his mother, Jackie (Brad) White of Prescott, AZ; siblings, Peggy Wells of St. Augustine, FL, Diane Kennedy of Chino Valley, AZ, Doug Kennedy of Prescott Valley, AZ, Ron (Peg) Kennedy of Normal, IL, Debbie Wells of Fayetteville, NC; foster parents, Linette Holm of West Salem and Eric (Beth) Holm of West Salem; other very special people; Lise Johnson and Jeannie Elkins both of West Salem and Elizabeth Coppernoll of Onalaska.
