Reuben G. Lorenz

Reuben G. Lorenz, 95, of La Crosse, passed away on Wednesday, February 1 ^st , 2017 at his home. He was born on January 25, 1922 to Theodore and Mary (Starch) Lorenz, the youngest of seven sons. He grew up in Chipmunk Coulee. Reuben served with the US Army 12 ^th Armored Division during WWII. He was in the medical division of the 92 ^nd Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron where he was awarded the Bronze Star for heroic achievement, having saved two severely wounded soldiers while under fire during a battle. Reuben married the love of his life, Helen Brandt, on July 24, 1946. They were married for 53 years until Helen died in 1999. Reuben owned Lorenz Implement Co., selling Allis Chalmers tractors and machinery until he retired. He enjoyed “the Land”, ten acres on the Black River near Melrose, and loved to grow vegetables, flowers, and fishing.

He is survived by a son Gary of Monona, WI and a daughter Debra of Madison. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen and a son Dennis in 1953.
